Sudanese Women Refugee Outreach

Utano Health Solutions partnered with Kele Global to provide essential health services to a Sudanese women's refugee organization in Uganda. This collaboration aimed to address the urgent health and psychosocial needs of displaced Sudanese women who had fled the ongoing crisis.

Through this initiative, Utano Health Solutions and Kele Global delivered a range of services, including medical consultations, mental health support, wellness education, and referrals to specialized care. These efforts were part of a broader response to support refugee populations in Uganda, which, as of early 2024, hosted over 1.6 million refugees and asylum seekers, primarily from neighboring countries like Sudan.

The influx of Sudanese refugees into Uganda has placed significant pressure on the country's health system, with organizations like Medical Teams International highlighting the critical need for additional resources to meet the health and nutrition needs of these populations. Collaborations between organizations like Utano Health Solutions and Kele Global play a vital role in filling gaps in service provision, particularly for vulnerable groups such as women and children.

By focusing on holistic care that encompasses physical health, mental wellbeing, and social support, this partnership contributes to the resilience and empowerment of Sudanese refugee women in Uganda, aligning with broader efforts to strengthen health services for refugees and host communities alike.
